The wee Hibees fell to a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Aberdeen on Friday afternoon.

Three goals in the opening 22 minutes from the host meant the wee Hibees had a mountain to climb – with Dean Cleland grabbing a late consolation goal in the second half.

Cammy Wilson opened the scoring inside 10 minutes after the ball dropped to him at the edge of the area.

Fraser Mackie then made it 2-0 shortly after, applying a smart finish to an excellent team goal for the hosts. The young Dons added a third just after the 20-minute mark when Fletcher Boyd headed home a cross from outwide.

Despite a frantic fast start from the home side, the wee Hibees showed good courage and bravery to keep fighting and came into the game in the second period.

The Dons keeper was called into action early in the second half, tipping Josh McDonald’s effort over the bar.

Darren McGregor’s side began to dominate the ball and created further chances through Jacob MacIntyre and Adam Buckley, but we couldn’t convert.

The Hibees did get their just rewards when Dean Cleland fired home from six yards out after a smart move down the left-hand side from Darren McGregor’s side.

That goal proved to be only a consolation however, as the Dons held on to claim all three points at Cormack Park.
