Nick Montgomery praised his side’s performance as they comfortably beat St Johnstone 3-1 at McDiarmid Park.

Goals from Emiliano Marcondes, Paul Hanlon, and Dylan Vente sealed the three points before the Saints grabbed a late consolation goal.

Hibs dominated the game from start to finish and after the game Montgomery was quick to heap praise on his players.

“I’m really happy with the boys today with their performance and the result.

“There’s been too many times this season where we’ve dominated games and not got the result we deserved. Today we were very comfortable at 3-0 and if anything we should’ve scored more goals.

“Credit to their goalkeeper, he was heroic at Easter Road a couple of weeks ago too, and we kept battering down the door today. Unfortunately, we conceded a goal towards the end, but it was a comfortable victory.

“The players showed a lot of character because the circumstances have not been easy.

“The fans were outstanding today too; they came in their numbers and supported us all the way. The away fans have been fantastic this season and again today they really did help the players.”

Throughout the game the Hibees created a number of high-quality chances and our Head Coach was pleased with how clinical his side were in the final third.

“We scored quality goals and created some quality moves that should’ve led to goals.

“We’ve spoken about being ruthless because countless times we’ve dominated games and created chances, and in terms of XG we’re right up there in the league, but you have to put them away. Today, we made the game comfortable and should’ve scored more.

“At the end of the day, it’s three points and we want to take as many as we can from now until the end of the season.

“We want to build momentum because it’s all about moving forward.”
