Hibs captain Joelle Murray was left ‘frustrated and disappointed’ following Wednesday evening’s defeat at Petershill Park.

Hibs would concede an equaliser within moments of taking the lead late in the first half, before eventually going down to a 3-2 loss at the hands of Partick Thistle.

Speaking to Hibs TV after the game, the skipper explained how displeased she was with her side's performance.

“I thought we started fairly well. We had a few chances. But the way we lost the goals, the ball not sticking up the top end of the pitch, our decision making, our execution; it was just a really disappointing and frustrating evening.

“If you’ve played in football for a long time, you know you are always susceptible to being on the back foot after scoring. We didn’t focus and we didn’t regain the ball from their centre. We gave away a cheap goal right on half-time.

"I’m not saying it would’ve been a different game if we went in at half-time 1-0 up, but we would’ve had that momentum and positivity. To concede so quickly after we scored is frustrating.”

After struggling to recover after the break from Thistle’s sucker-punch equaliser, Hibs would soon trail by two before Jorian Baucom found the net in the 89th minute.

“I think time ran out in the end,” Murray said.

“We realised too late that all it takes is: receive the ball, play the ball. We were taking too many touches and slowing play down. We allowed Partick Thistle to get back behind the ball and recover. We realised too late that that (faster) speed of play was going to hurt them.

“We’ve been on a decent run if we are looking at performances. Obviously, results haven’t been great but other than tonight and Hearts we feel we’ve been performing well and competing. For some reason, when we come (to Petershill Park), we don’t match those levels and we start chasing the game. We can’t seem to nullify their threats and take advantage when we have momentum.”
