Hibs Head Coach Nick Montgomery was incredibly frustrated after his side fell to a 2-1 defeat against Ross County on Saturday.

The Hibees went ahead in the Highlands through Myziane Maolida in the first half but goals from Simon Murray and Jordan White turned the game on its head and we came away with nothing in the end.

Despite creating plenty of chances we came away with nothing and speaking to Hibs TV after the match Nick Montgomery shared his frustrations on the result.

“It was a really tough one to take - but I’ve said that too many times this season.

“It’s a game where we had 20 shots and we dominated every stat in the game. But if you don’t put your chances away, then we can’t excuse that.

“We’ve hit the post, we’ve had one on ones with the goalkeeper who has pulled off some great saves. But we can’t excuse the goals we gave away. We went 1-0 up, which is a hard thing to do away from home and at that point we’re comfortable in the game. But we make a mistake for the equaliser and didn’t deal with the ball into the box.

“In the second half, it was the same again - we had plenty of chances to score but if you don’t put your chances away and if you make mistakes at the other end then you are going to go away with nothing.

“It is really frustrating and disappointing - because after last weeks result we backed it up today with our performance. We played good football, created good chances but last week we put our chances away and today we didn’t. We need to be more consistent.”

At the full time whistle, Montgomery, the coaching staff, and the players all went up to the travelling fans to thank them for their support in what was a frustrating afternoon in Dingwall.

“Every week we go over to the fans. I always demand that the players go over and clap the fans win, lose or draw. We went a bit a closer today to hear what they had to say and to understand their frustration.

“It is a long way to come for everyone to come. At 1-1 they would’ve been happy with the performance, but to lose the game in the manner that did is frustrating, and we understand the fans frustration too.”
