Nathan Moriah-Welsh expressed his delight to have won the 2023/24 Hibernian FC Men’s Young Player of the Year award.

This is the second consecutive year that the youngster has picked up this award having also won the same prize last season whilst out on loan at Newport County.

Speaking at the awards night at the EICC, Moriah-Welsh explained how happy he was with the accolade.

“It is a good feeling; I have won this award two years on the bounce now, so thank you to everyone who voted. It was a bit unexpected, to be honest - but I’m really happy to receive it.”

Since making the switch to the Hibees from Premier League outfit AFC Bournemouth in January 2024, the 22-year-old has gone on to make 15 first-team appearances (all comps).

After only four months in Edinburgh, the central midfielder admits he has already got a taste for Scottish football and despite a poor 2023/24 campaign the midfielder is hungry for success next season.

It’s been a tough season for the team collectively but a good learning experience for myself. I felt I came in and made a positive adjustment to the team.

"Scottish football has been tough and physical but it has been a good challenge to test where I am as a player and a man.

“The way the fans were for Paul and Lewy’s send-off was brilliant. It was great for me to see and I hope I can experience more moments like that next season."
