The wee Hibees continued their positive start to the CAS U18 Elite League with a hard-fought draw against Kilmarnock on Friday evening.
Darren McGregor’s side are unbeaten from their first three league matches so far, following up wins over Aberdeen and St Mirren with a draw 1-1 draw with Kilmarnock.
The wee Hibees opened the scoring at HTC courtesy of Adam Buckley inside 15 minutes. The goal came courtesy of a fantastic delivery from Jamie McMurdo – who whipped in a ball to the back post which Buckley nodded home from inside the six-yard box.
Josh McDonald had a good opportunity to double our lead moments later. He capitalised on a loose pass at the back and was through one-on-one but was denied by a smart stop from the Kilmarnock ‘keeper.
Josh Landers was next to go close for the Hibees – his shot from a tight angle forced another good save to keep the scoreline 1-0 going into the break.
The conditions played their part at HTC, with swirling winds and heavy rain affecting the rhythm and flow of the game.
The visitors had a couple of sightings at goal, however, most of these were restricted to shots from the edge of the penalty which Hibs goalkeeper Ryan Mallon was comfortably dealing with.
But with just over 10 minutes to play, Killie got themselves back on level terms. A cross-come shot evaded everyone and sneaked in at the back post.
That was the last action of note with both sides settling for a point at HTC.
