Hibernian FC’s Development Squad drew 2-2 in a friendly against Lowland League side Gala Fairydean Rovers.
The match was a great test for Hibs’ youngsters as it enabled them to gain further experience of playing against senior opposition.
Guillaume Beuzelin’s youngsters got off to a good start in the game and took the lead after just 13 minutes through Dean Cleland. The young striker came alive in the box to place home a rebound after the ‘keeper denied a direct free-kick.
Just after the half an hour mark, though, Gala drew level. The ball broke to Kieran Dolan from a throw-in, and his low, drilled 20-yard effort beat Ryan Mallon in the Hibs net.
12 minutes into second half Hibs were back ahead! Jamie McMurdo did excellently down the right hand-side to win the ball back and find Dean Cleland. The young striker showed great composure and finished perfectly into the bottom corner.
With just 15 minutes remaining, though, the home side found an equaliser. Joe Wyllie cut in from the left hand-side and found the back of the net.
The game finished 2-2 at Netherdale, in what was an excellent physical test and experience for our young players.
