Hibernian U18s exited the Scottish Youth Cup at the Quarter-Final stage following a disappointing defeat to Hearts at Oriam.

The hosts were largely in control over the 90, with Connor Dow, Keir McMeekin and Charlie Sanders finding the back of the net.

Hibs U18s XI: Vautherin, MacDonald, Gillie, McSporran, McNeill, Burns (Aghanya 83'), Davidson, Downie (Gallacher 63'), Jimenez (Riddell 78'), McDonald, Shankland.

Unused Substitutes: Brown, Halliday, McDermott.

An extremely quiet opening ten minutes drew little promise from either side, with Luke Davidson's ball in to the near post held with ease by Hearts keeper Jack Lyon.

On 13 minutes, Logan Jimenez would go down under apparent contact inside the home team's penalty area - though the decision went the other way and Jimenez was booked for simulation.

Hearts would take the lead after 19 minutes after Tommy North sent centre-forward Dow in behind the Hibs backline. Dow latched onto the pass and coolly slotted in the opener.

Josh McDonald would almost find an equaliser on 25 minutes after his whipped corner delivery looked set to sneak in under Lyon's bar - but the Hearts number one backtracked well to tip the ball over.

Lewis Gillie would put his body on the line to deflect a North effort behind, before Cole Shankland fired over from range up the other end moments later.

As the game passed the half-hour mark, Hearts would gain more control in the game and looked certain to add another.

Within minutes of one another, Liam Walker would smack the crossbar with a powerful, curved from 25 yards before a driven Jaedon Donkor strike bounced back out of the post.

The pressure proved too much, and Hearts would soon grab their second through McMeekin. The midfielder let fly with a drilled effort from long-range that nestled in the bottom corner.

The second half would provide more yellow cards as full-blooded challenges occured all over the park.

Sam Vautherin would hold a thumping North effort well, while Gillie would direct a McDonald delivery just wide of Lyon's post in a second 45 lacking in opportunities.

Hearts would find their third through substitute Sanders, who fired in beyond Vautherin after running onto a sharp cutback from McMeekin.

Substitute midfielder Anizoba Aghanya would take on a shot from 25 yards in the closing stages, but his effort was held by Lyon as time wound down - with Hibs unable to get on the scoresheet before the full-time whistle blew.
