Hibernian U18s will face Hearts in the Scottish Youth Cup Quarter-Final this week!
Darren McGregor’s side will travel to Oriam on Tuesday 13 Tuesday to face our city rivals; with kick-off at 7:30pm.
THE LOWDOWN
The wee Hibees booked their place in the final eight with victories over Inverurie Loco Works and Partick Thistle in previous rounds.
A comfortable 6-0 win over Inverurie was secured at HTC in October. Adam Buckley, Reiss Downie, and an own goal had Hibs well ahead at the break, before Lewis Gillie, Logan Jimenez, and Alisdair Burns added to our tally in the second half.
Luke Davidson scored a crucial double to earn the youngsters a 2-1 away victory over Thistle after initially going behind at Petershill Park in November.
Hibs are now just two wins away from their first final appearance in the competition since Ryan Porteous and Jamie Gullan got on the scoresheet in a 3-1 win over Aberdeen at Hampden Park in April 2018.
Our Academy’s last outing saw our U19s defeat St Mirren in the CAS Elite U19 League Cup last month, with our scheduled League Cup clash against Motherwell last week postponed due to a frozen pitch.
THE HOSTS
David McNeil’s side have also progressed beyond two rounds to reach the quarter-finals; defeating Ross County and Bonnyrigg Rose to reach this stage.
Callen Robb’s hat-trick helped Hearts sweep aside the Staggies with a 6-0 victory up north, before Liam Walker and Sam Dickov got on the scoresheet to see off Rose in Dalkeith in the last round.
Hibs' last meeting with Hearts U18s took place at HTC on 10 January 2025 in the CAS Elite U18 League, with Logan Jimenez and Jamie McMurdo scoring to earn the wee Hibees a 2-0 win en route to their title triumph.
This was the start of Darren McGregor's side's outstanding unbeaten league run - which remains intact to this date.
HOW TO WATCH
Our Edinburgh Derby meeting in the Scottish Youth Cup Quarter-Final will be played at the John Brysdon Arena at Oriam. Kick-off is 7:30pm on Tuesday 13 January.
